Victoria, BC – Officers are investigating after a suspicious fire on Saturday caused significant property damage in Vic West.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th, Patrol officers were called to the 300-block of Mary Street in Vic West for a report of a suspicious fire. Victoria Fire Department (VFD) firefighters were already on scene attacking fires involving a dumpster and an adjacent commercial building.

Officers attended and conducted an investigation into the incident. Officers identified a suspect, who they located and arrested at a nearby multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 200-block of Russell Street.

VFD firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented additional property damage. No one was injured in the incident.

Officers transported the suspect to VicPD cells where he was later released with a court date and conditions.
