Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are seeking witnesses after a man was attacked while intervening in an assault on a youth last week.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday, May 10th, Patrol officers were called to the 1300-block of Wharf Street for a report of four or more people physically fighting. Officers attended and discovered a youth had been the victim of an assault and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. BC Emergency Health Services paramedics transported the victim to hospital for medical treatment. The suspects left the area before officers arrived.
Officers continued their investigation and reviewed video surveillance, which showed that the youth was assaulted by two or more individuals. A bystander attempted to intervene in the assault and was kicked, punched, and struck by a skateboard. The man left the scene and has not contacted police.
Officers are asking for additional information about the incident, and would like to speak with the man who intervened and was assaulted.
