File: 21-20290

Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man after roommates discovered an armed stranger in their living room early Monday morning.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on May 24th, Patrol officers were called to an apartment building in the 300-block of Cook Street for a report of a break and enter. Two roommates had awoken to the sound of a man in the living room of their apartment. Both roommates moved to investigate the sounds and discovered a man, armed with a makeshift club, on their couch. They retreated to a room with a lockable door and called 911.

Patrol officers responded and discovered the man on the apartment’s couch. He was quickly taken into custody.

Officers identified the man and discovered that he currently faces charges for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, stemming from a December 2020 incident in which he allegedly threatened two strangers with a knife. He also faces pending charges for break and entering as well as charges for breaching court-ordered conditions.

Given the man’s outstanding charges, as well as previous criminal convictions for serious crimes including sexual offences and assault, he was held for court.

These files remain under investigation.
