File: 21-20453

Victoria, BC –A bicycle stolen from a youth with special needs has been recovered and returned.

The bicycle was stolen from a storage shed at SJ Willis School in the 900-block of Topaz Avenue sometime over the weekend of May 21st. The bicycle belonged to a student at the school with special needs, who required the bicycle as an essential mobility tool. Without the bicycle, the youth was unable to participate in the classroom or school environment.

Earlier today, we asked for the public’s assistance in locating the bicycle, and learned that a security guard in Saanich had turned the bike into Saanich Police after finding it unsecured last night.

Unfortunately, the bike was damaged with graffiti while it was taken.

The bike was returned to the youth this afternoon. Thank you to the public and to our Saanich Police Department Partners for your assistance with this file.

This file remains under investigation.
