Victoria, BC – Officers arrested a man after he chased their police vehicle while brandishing a knife on Saturday morning.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, July 10th, officers were deployed on special duty assignment to assist City of Victoria bylaw officers in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. Officers were departing the area in their police vehicle when a man chased after them while brandishing a knife. The man was unable to make contact with the police vehicle and returned to his encampment. Officers returned to the scene and arrested the man for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The man was found to be in possession of a double-edged knife. A photograph of the knife is available below.

In addition, officers learned that the suspect was the subject of conditions of release orders which prohibited him from possessing knives, or weapons of any kind.

The suspect, a 31-year-old Victoria man, faces recommended charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order.
