Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are investigating a stabbing this morning that sent one person to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and closed a downtown street.

Patrol officers were called to the intersection of Broad and Johnson streets just after 8 a.m. this morning for a report of a fight. When officers arrived they located a victim suffering from stab wounds, bleeding heavily. Officers provided emergency first aid and called for B.C. Emergency Health Services Paramedics. Paramedics took over medical care and transported the victim to hospital. The victim’s injuries now appear to be non-life-threatening after medical treatment. The 500-block of Johnson Street was closed as officers began to investigate the incident.

A short time later officers located a suspect nearby in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. While officers were taking the suspect into custody, the suspect headbutted one of the officers, resulting in a non-life-threatening injury. The suspect was arrested without additional incident.

Several weapons were recovered and the suspect was transported to VicPD cells.

Investigators with our Forensic Identification Section (FIS) are in the area documenting the crime scenes.

This incident remains under active investigation.
