Video, Witnesses Sought In Hate Crime Investigation

Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking for your assistance as we work to identify the person or persons responsible for a mischief and hate crime last week.

On Tuesday, October 5^th officers were called to the 700-block of Pembroke Street for a report of a mischief which also had elements of a hate crime. An area resident reported that two vehicles had been vandalized with spray paint. The nature of the targeting and vandalism meets the standard for investigation as a hate-motivated incident or hate crime. Targeting of this nature is against the Criminal Code of Canada and is not welcome in Victoria or Esquimalt.

Investigators are asking for people who were in the area or may have video footage of the 700-block of Princess Avenue or the 700-block of Pembroke Street between 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 4^th 2021, and noon on Tuesday, October 5^th 2021,  to call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
