Victoria, BC – A man was arrested and faces multiple charges, including charges for impaired driving, after fleeing the scene of a collision last night.

Just before 6 p.m. last night several people called 911 to report that a collision had occurred at the intersection of Fairfield Road and Moss Street. Three vehicles were involved in the collision. The driver of one of the vehicles, which had caused the chain reaction collision, was driving away from the scene after refusing to exit his vehicle. Witnesses remained a safe distance from the vehicle and recorded a description of the driver, the vehicle and the vehicle license plate. Two occupants of one of the vehicles were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, officers located a man matching the description of the driver of the vehicle which had fled the scene at a nearby address. The man displayed clear signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. He was transported to cells where he provided two breath samples which well exceeded the threshold for criminal impaired driving charges.

The man was released with a driving prohibition and recommended charges for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and two Criminal Code of Canada charges for impaired driving.

If you have information about this incident and have not yet spoken to officers, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
