Victoria, BC – We will be deploying temporary CCTV cameras in support of our operations to ensure public safety during planned protests today. Traffic disruptions are anticipated.
Events are planned for this afternoon at the B.C. Legislature and downtown Victoria areas. VicPD officers will be working to ensure that everyone’s right to safe, peaceful and lawful protest are protected. We are deploying these temporarily placed, monitored cameras in public spaces in accordance with B.C. and national privacy legislation. The cameras will be taken down a short time after the event. Temporary signs will also be posted to ensure that those in the area are aware.
