Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested five people this morning after they blockaded Douglas Street at Tolmie Avenue during the morning rush hour.

Patrol officers from both the Saanich Police Department and the Victoria Police Department responded to the intersection of Douglas Street and Tolmie Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. this morning for a report that a group had gathered there with the intention of blocking traffic. The group were informed that blocking traffic is a criminal offence and that doing so would make them subject to arrest.

Some members of the group moved to block traffic and were taken into custody without incident. Five people have been transported to VicPD cells for processing.

Other members of the group who did not block traffic, but stood at the roadside, remained on scene.
