Victoria, BC – VicPD officers are asking for your help to identify a man who stabbed a loss prevention officer with a screwdriver after a theft was interrupted last week.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19th, a man attempted to steal from a business in the 900-block of Yates street. A loss prevention officer confronted the suspect who then challenged the officer to fight and spat on him. When the loss prevention officer attempted to apprehend the suspect, the man stabbed him with a screwdriver. The victim was wearing a protective vest which prevented serious physical injury. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as an adult Caucasian man standing five feet, nine inches tall, with a slim build. The suspect wore a baseball hat with a red brim, a black jacket over a grey hooded sweater, and blue jeans.

This incident remains under investigation.
