Victoria, BC – A stolen Jeep was located by Patrol officers last night after they spotted the vehicle running with the driver asleep behind the wheel.

Just after 10 p.m. last night, Patrol officers were in the 500-block of Ellice Street when they spotted a vehicle stopped with the engine running and lights on. The driver of the vehicle was slumped over the wheel. Concerned the man was in medical distress, officers conducted a traffic stop. The driver was not in medical distress, but asleep.

Upon querying the vehicle, officers discovered it had been reported stolen on February 27th from the 1300-block of Wharf Street. The driver was arrested and transported to VicPD cells. He was later released pending further investigation. The vehicle is being returned to its rightful owner.
