Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are investigating after a woman suffered head and facial injuries after being randomly attacked in James Bay on the weekend.

On Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at approximately 10 p.m., a woman was walking her dog in the 400-block of Simcoe Street in James Bay when a man suddenly pushed her from behind into the corner of a building. The push caused the woman to strike the building wall face-first, resulting in lacerations and additional head injuries.

As the woman lay on the ground, the suspect searched through her pockets, before fleeing the scene. The man did not steal anything from the victim.

The suspect in the incident is described as an approximately 50-year-old Caucasian man, standing six feet tall with a slim build. He had grey hair and was wearing a blue or green jacket.

The woman reported the incident to police yesterday upon attending the hospital as she began to experience additional symptoms from the head injury she suffered in the unprovoked attack. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening, but continue to impact her well-being.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are searching the area for surveillance video.

If you have information about this incident, have video from the area of the 400-block of Simcoe Street from that time frame, or recognize the suspect description, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
