Victoria, BC – VicPD officers are seeking witnesses and additional information after an aggravated assault and robbery at a Victoria grocery store yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 16th, VicPD officers responded to a grocery store in the 300-block of Menzies Street for a report that a man had been assaulted. Officers attended and located the victim on scene suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers learned that the victim had attempted to stop a theft in progress after noticing a woman attempting to leave the store with unpaid items. As the victim struggled with the theft suspect, a man attacked the victim and assaulted him several times. The suspects then fled the scene together on foot with the stolen items. BC Emergency Health Services paramedics transported the victim to hospital for medical treatment.

The first suspect is described as an approximately 40-year-old Caucasian woman standing five feet, six inches tall, with brown hair. She wore grey sweatpants and a dark sweatshirt. The second suspect in this incident is described as an approximately 40-year-old Caucasian man standing six feet tall. He wore a black jacket, black hooded sweater, and blue jeans.

This incident remains under investigation.
