Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals and Victoria Police Department are joining forces for a charity inter-squad game on Sunday, November 13th, at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Victoria Royals players will be mixed together with VicPD officers and separated into two teams that will then face off in a one-of-a-kind exhibition. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Victoria City Police Athletic Association (VCPAA) and youth across Greater Victoria.

The VCPAA is a non-profit organization that supports events in the community and fosters positive relationships between the police and youth in Greater Victoria through athletics, academics and art. VCPAA events include the VCPAA High School Golf Tournament, the VCPAA basketball tournament and other events including support for student theatre productions.

“We’re extremely grateful for the partnership we have with VicPD and the VCPAA.  We all have a mutual interest in serving and supporting the community in our own unique ways, and this charity event is one step in that ongoing process,” Dan Price, General Manager and Head Coach of the Victoria Royals said.  “Special thanks to Cst. Cam MacIntyre, Det. Cst. Arthur Volk and Cst. Mandeep Sohi for their efforts in furthering this partnership and for their huge contribution in planning and executing this event. We’re excited to share this experience with the VicPD, the VCPAA, our great Royals fans and the community of Victoria.  We look forward to a great turnout and a great day.”

After the game, fans will have the unique opportunity to share the ice with their favourite Royals players and VicPD officers in a post-game skate. Please bring your own skates to participate.

“I’m looking forward to this tremendous event which will give VicPD officers a chance to share the ice with Victoria Royals players in this awesome one-of-a-kind opportunity to support youth in sport across Greater Victoria,” VicPD Chief Del Manak said. “I’m thankful to the Royals for the opportunity to deepen the connection between VicPD, the Royals and our community.”

The game is set to begin at 1:05 p.m., with the post-game skate to follow between 2:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November, 13 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Admission to the event will be by donation upon entry, starting at a $5 minimum.
