Victoria, BC – VicPD officers and staff are once again braving the freezing waters of the Pacific Ocean in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities as they raise money for Special Olympics BC through this year’s Polar Plunge.

Special Olympics BC is committed to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities and, in turn, the lives of their family members, friends and everyone they’ve touched. Special Olympics BC provides high-quality year-round sport programs and competitions that help people with intellectual disabilities celebrate personal achievement and gain confidence, skills, and friendships. VicPD’s team, the Royal Plungers, has been proud to support these programs, raising tens of thousands of dollars over the years through their super-cooled efforts.

This year, Chief Del Manak dove deep into his training for the Polar Plunge.

While this year’s event moves to Saanich’s Cadboro-Gyro Park, the same spirit is will keep hearts warm despite the frigid waters. Everyone is welcome at the event on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Registration starts at 9:30 am.

You can support VicPD’s Royal Plungers team or start your own Polar Plunge team at vicpd.ca/polarplunge. Join us to get #FreezingForAReason!
