Victoria, BC – Officers have arrested a man suspected of conducting a brazen daylight robbery while armed with a hammer.

On April 22, General Investigation Section (GIS) officers attended a multi-unit supportive housing facility in the 2500-block of Dowler Place as they worked to locate a man who had been identified as the robbery suspect. GIS officers, with the assistance of Patrol members, found the suspect and took him into custody despite his attempts to flee from them on a bicycle.

The man was arrested after an investigation into a robbery that occurred at a jewelry store on Saturday, April 15. In that incident, a man entered the store while armed with a hammer, confronted staff, and gained access to three display cases before fleeing with a significant number of stolen items.

Upon identifying the suspect, officers determined that he was also wanted on six warrants for various other offences. He remains in custody.

The man faces multiple recommended charges including armed robbery, assault with a weapon and breaching numerous court-ordered conditions.
