Victoria, BC – Two people were arrested without incident yesterday after Patrol officers and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) responded to a report of suspicious circumstance at a multi-unit residential building in James Bay.

Just after 8:15 a.m. on Monday, May 22, officers were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 400-block of Simcoe Street for a report that two non-residents had accessed and were inside a facilities room. The caller reported that the two people appeared to be impaired by drugs or alcohol. The caller also reported that what looked like a handgun was close by.

Patrol officers attended and set up containment. Out of an abundance of caution, GVERT was also activated.

Two people were taken into custody without incident and transported to VicPD cells just before 11 a.m. The reported handgun was determined to be a realistic airsoft gun.

There were no injuries.

This incident remains under investigation. If you have information about this incident and have yet to speak with an officer, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
