Victoria, BC – Victoria residents are advised of temporary road closures and other potential traffic disruptions in the downtown core due to a planned demonstration today. 

Officers with the Greater Victoria Public Safety Unit (GVPSU), along with VicPD officers and staff from various sections, are responding to a planned demonstration starting at noon today.  

Starting at approximately 2:30 p.m. today, VicPD Traffic officers will conduct rolling road closures ahead of a planned marching route to ensure traffic safety. Other traffic disruptions may occur; please avoid the area during this time. 

Roads will be temporarily closed along Government Street from Belleville Street to Johnson Street, along Johnson Street from Government Street to Douglas Street, along Douglas Street from Johnston Street to Humboldt Street, along Humboldt Street from Douglas Street to Government Street, and along Government Street from Wharf Street to Belleville Street. 

VicPD supports everyone’s right to safe, peaceful and lawful protest, and asks that all citizens respect this right. Dangerous or unlawful activity will be met with de-escalation and enforcement.
