Victoria, B.C. – VicPD has launched an updated online reporting tool to help make it easier for citizens to make online crime reports and traffic complaints. The updated tool is easier to use and includes additional categories, such as the ability to report a found bike, which will help us return stolen property to its owner.

VicPD’s online reporting tool provides a convenient method of reporting a small group of crimes within Victoria and Esquimalt, including:

  1. Traffic Complaints
  2. Property Crime Below $5,000 value
  3. Property Crime Above $5,000 value

Although in most cases an officer will not be assigned to follow up on an online report, the information is important and should be documented. Users who submit an online report will be provided with a file number and the ability to upload photos if necessary.

The information submitted in online reporting will also help VicPD understand what is going on in your neighbourhood, identify crime trends and the needs of the community, and deploy resources effectively.

Online reporting is not applicable for incidents in progress, incidents where a suspect may be able to be identified through a description or CCTV footage, or where police attendance is required. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

Save yourself time and help prevent crime by reporting online. To report a crime online or learn more, visit vicpd.ca/report-a-crime-online.
