Victoria, BC – Yesterday, VicPD asked the public for assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly spat on a vehicle driver and passenger last month. This morning, the suspect turned himself in to VicPD headquarters. VicPD would like to thank the community for their help in sharing the information.

On April 19, just before 4:30 p.m., VicPD received a call from a man who was driving with his father along Dallas Road, when a cyclist spat on both of them through an open passenger window while at a three-way intersection near Cook Street. The spit struck the father in the face and the cyclist continued down Cook Street and out of view of the driver.

VicPD published a Community Update and social media post on Instagram, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to come forward. The posts received a high volume of engagement from the community, which aided in the suspect turning himself in.

It is unknown at this time what caused the assault, and the investigation is ongoing.
