Victoria, BC – Patrol officers have arrested two men and seized two different replica handguns in two different calls over a two-day period. These replica handguns are extremely difficult to differentiate from actual weapons.

On March 2nd, just before 3 p.m., Patrol officers noted a man riding a bicycle with his face covered and without a helmet on Bridge Street near Ellice Street. Officers stopped the man and began to speak with him when they noticed a bulge in his waistband. When officers asked the man about the bulge he produced a life-like replica handgun. Officers took the man into custody without further incident. While searching the man following the arrest, they located an additional can of bear spray, a knife, cash and drugs.

The man was transported to cells for and held for telebail.

On March 3rd, just before 2 a.m. Patrol officers were called to Yates Street near the Blanshard Street intersection for a report of a man walking with a gun. Patrol officers arrived and located the man. He was safely taken into custody without further incident. A life-like replica firearm was seized. Officers identified the man, who is known to police. This file remains under investigation.
