Victoria, BC – As with previous events, we will be deploying temporary cameras in support of our operations to ensure public safety during this year’s Santa Claus Parade in Victoria. The deployment of these cameras is part of our operations to help keep this event fun, safe and family-friendly.

As always, we are deploying these temporarily placed, monitored cameras in public spaces in accordance with B.C. and national privacy legislation. The cameras are going up in the next two days and will be taken down a short time after the event. Temporary signs will also be posted to ensure that those in the area are aware.

If you have questions or concerns about our temporary CCTV camera deployment, please email [email protected].

Our officers and Reserve Constables will be working along the parade route as there will be multiple road closures. The parade marshalling area will be closed to traffic starting at 3:00 p.m. (map below)

The parade route, which extends along Government Street between Belleville and Herald Streets will be closed at approximately 4:00 p.m. and is expected to reopen at approximately 6:15 p.m. The Johnson street bridge will be closed from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 6:15 p.m. Only BC Transit busses and residential traffic (west of Government Street) will be permitted across the bridge. For up to date information on road closures, follow @VicPDCanada on Twitter during the parade
