Victoria, BC – The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) along with VicPD Major Crime Detectives are continuing to gather evidence following a homicide over the weekend.

On Saturday, at approximately 12:30 a.m., multiple people called 911 after witnessing an altercation that occurred at the corner of Douglas and View Streets. Police officers quickly responded to the scene and located a man suffering from a life threatening injury. That man was quickly transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.  Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this very difficult time. The family has asked for privacy as the next of kin process continues.

A 27 year-old Victoria man remains in custody as investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.  Police are recommending a charge of murder against the man.
