Victoria, BC – A Patrol officer is recovering and a man is facing charges after officers responded to a domestic assault.

A call came into the 911 Communications Centre at approximately 8:45 p.m. last night. No one spoke when answered, but 911 call takers heard the sounds of an assault in progress. 911 Communications Centre staff were able to quickly identify the location of the call and Patrol officers were dispatched.

While officers were enroute, the victim of the assault was able get away from her assailant and lock herself in her bathroom. Officers arrived and located the suspect.

The suspect became aggressive while being taken into custody and one of our officers received non-life-threatening injuries in the course of the arrest. The officer was treated in hospital and released.

The suspect was held for morning court, and is expected to face charges for breaching conditions and assault.
