Victoria BC – Regional Crown Counsel approved 13 fraud-related charges against VicPD Constable Leroy Anderson today. The charges stem from actions while the officer was off-duty.
Charges include six counts of forgery, six counts of possession of a forged document, and one count of fraud.
In early September 2014, Cst. Anderson was suspended with pay after information was brought to VicPD about potential fraudulent off-duty activity. A Police Act investigation was initiated, which continued until it was suspended on November 27 when Chief Constable Frank Elsner requested the RCMP to conduct a criminal investigation.
Cst. Anderson’s employment status is now under review by the Victoria and Esquimalt Police Board.
“These are trying times for everyone involved,” said Chief Constable Frank Elsner. “I want to assure everyone that when this information came to light, VicPD took immediate action. As the case is now before the courts, and there is an ongoing Police Act investigation, we are limited in what we can say at this time.
