Victoria BC – VicPD is starting the recruiting process for a new class of Reserve Constables.
The VicPD Reserve Constable program has a strong history in our community and we’re now looking for the next generation of dedicated, passionate individuals to join the VicPD family.
Last year, VicPD’s Reserve Constables contributed over 6,350 hours of volunteer time to the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt at many community events, working many proactive crime-prevention initiatives, and working closely with sworn and professional support staff from VicPD.
Reserve Constables are very active in the community with numerous duties including Lock out Auto Crime, Block Watch, Cell Phone and Speed Watch, Safety Presentations, Bike Pickup and Crime Free Multi-Housing. There are also many proactive projects that Reserves are trained to do.
Cst. Sean Millard, Reserve Constable Program coordinator, will be conducting interviews and distributing application packages for the new class, slated to begin in January 2015.
Applicants who want to become Reserve Constables undergo an intense hiring and screening process before beginning the 80-hour training. Training includes legal studies, police operations and, of course, physical training. After successful completion of the course and testing, Reserve Constables are sworn in as Special Municipal Constables.
