Victoria, BC – An armed male suspect was taken into custody by Patrol officers early this morning.

Just after midnight, Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 400-block of Pandora Avenue for a report that an armed man was stabbing a hallway floor and threating to harm people. Patrol officers arrived and located the suspect.

Patrol officers were able to negotiate the suspect into custody at gunpoint. A knife was recovered during the arrest. No one was physically injured. This call occurred as Patrol officers simultaneously responded to another call for an armed person in another residential building.

The man was not a resident of the building, but had been a guest of a resident there. The resident later told officers that they had become uncomfortable with the suspect’s behaviour and asked him to leave, when he took a knife from their kitchen and began to threaten them with harm. They were able to get the suspect into the hallway and call 911. Other building residents also called 911.

After the arrest, officers identified the suspect and discovered that he is a youth. During this time the suspect allegedly made several threats to harm officers and others. He was held in custody for court.

This investigation remains ongoing.
