Victoria BC – VicPD and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) are investigating the sudden death of a toddler early this morning.

Officers were called to a hotel in the 3100-block of Douglas Street at approximately 4 a.m. for reports of a woman screaming. The room was quickly located and officers entered to find a distraught woman, a young child, and a small toddler. The toddler had no vital signs and despite lengthy attempts at life-saving measures by police, fire, and ambulance, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
